Kindles available for check-out

The library has two Kindles available for check-out by adult patrons with an active card.

Available to patrons at the library, Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing is an ​easy to use program that will walk you through a virtual typing class.  Students as young as second grade are able to use the program.  Want to brush up in order to get a better job?  Mavis Beacon can help.

These noise cancelling headphones are available to adult or young adult patrons inside the library.  They were purchased to help patrons who are job seeking, taking online courses, or just needing to focus.  Ask to check them out at the front desk- an active card is required.

Cloud Library


You can search the library's Cloud Library collection at PPL's Cloud Library page. To access your Bookshelf and view checked-out items or check on your holds, click the 'My Books' button on the top center of the page.


Getting Started



  1. The first step in setting up your Cloud Library account is to visit the library and ensure that your information is updated. Any member of staff can help.

  2. Once your account is updated, visit the Main Cloud Drive page.
    Download and install the relevant version of the Cloud Library app from the sidebar on the top left. If you are having trouble with this step, please consult the support page.

  3. Now sign into your app using 'Illinois Heartland Library System' as your library name.
  4. Answer all the self explanatory questions.
  5. Enter your library card number found on the back of your library card into the appropriate field. The library card number is 14 digits long. Your PIN is the last four digits of your library card number. Make sure that the checkbox is clicked.
  6. You are now signed-in! Click the 'Search' button in the center of the page to begin searching for items.

  7. In the results page, click on the title of an item to visit that item's page.

  8. Depending on the item's status, you will be able either to check it out or to place a hold, using the large button in the middle of the page. To place a hold on an unavailable item, simply click the 'Add to Hold List' button. Your item will be placed on hold, and you will be notified by email when it becomes available for checkout.

  9. If the item is available, just click the 'check out' button on the item's page.

  10. At any time, you can visit your 'My Books' page to view all of your checked-out materials.

  11. The items you check out can be accessed and read through the Cloud Library app on the device of your choice.

  12. You never need to worry about overdue digital materials. They will return themselves automatically when due.

  13. That's it! Have fun with your new e-books and don't hesitate to contact the library for help.
